Simulated “gut” texture on full length of strings. The strings have a light to medium-soft texture that has been "spiral cut" into the string. This slight texture facilitates better gripping of the strings for lightning fast pizzicato playing, and drag triplets with with almost no effort. The strings "grab" the air and force it to move, producing more mid and low end tone when playing acoustically.
All of our nylon string sets come as a 6 string “bump” assortment (6 total strings of various gauge. See photos.) for 1/2, 3/4, and 4/4 size double bass. The idea is that some players prefer thinner, lower tension strings while others prefer thicker, higher tension stings. Why not offer a wide array of thickness and tension all in one package of strings? This is exactly what we do!
Our string sets also include rubber dipped metal ends. NO KNOTS to come untied in the middle of your set! We are proud to be the only company offering this configuration. You need strings that sound great when played acoustic or amplified, strings that won't tear your fingers up if you need to play 3 sets in one night, strings that stay in tune in hot/cold/humid/dry climates. You need Superior Bassworks Kevlar cored nylon strings for double bass.

If your bass has never had non-steel strings installed, please keep in mind that some modification of the tailpiece string slots, bridge string notches, nut string notches, and tuning machine string holes may be required. This is completely normal, and will not prevent you from switching to other string types in the future. Please measure your bass before ordering. If you are not confident making these adjustments yourself, please consult a professional luthier or more experienced bass player for assistance. These strings are not recommended for school orchestra students.

"These are the best "gut-like" strings I've ever played. Most people think these strings are for slappers only, but that's not true at all IMHO. I play pizz only (no slap) and love the old-school sound of these strings. Great for roots, blues, traditional jazz, etc ... The search is over
"After playing five different sets of strings over the last two years, The search has ended with Superior Gripmax. The tone and sustain is far "Superior" than any other synthetic than I've ever played. The "grip max" feature makes them much more player friendly. Play These!
"These are great strings! They put the "wood" back in my bass sound. Nice, earthy, organic, and tight. I've tried other nylon-based strings and they all sounded harsh compared to the Deluxe strings. They're a breeze to play, easy on the hands and fingers, slap nice and smooth, sound like guts, play like guts, and have no string maintenance normally associated with guts. Having 6-strings to choose from makes these the most flexible set of strings on the market. If you want to try guts but are leery of the cost, then look no more. Exactly what i'm looking for!
"I've been using a three striged bass to play latin and brazilian music, a half slap, half pizz technique. Seeing as it is a unconventional setup, I realised that I had to find a type of string to help me on this path. Gut was my first natural choice and after using it for some time, the daily humidity change here in Lisbon, drove me towards sintetic opition. SBW The Best Strings on the market
"I Have used real guts for a few years and love the fell and sound for Rockabilly and Swing. My guys started to fray really badly so it was time for a new set. i tried a few synthetic brands in both the standard and Pro series, They were terrible. Then i saw the SBW set on the net and thought " well for that price, give them a go" They are unbelievable, with a feel and sound as good as guts. I put them on my second no name bass to try and have just ordered a second set for my main bass (a Christopher) which still has agood set of guts on it. Amazing for classical music

So good my even my experienced Luthier thought it was real gut!
"Took my bass to my Luthier the other day to get a new bridge. When he graped the bass and played a few notes, he said my gut strings could use some oil. When I told him those were not real gut but some strings called SBW Deluxe Dirty Gut, he was really amazed! :-) He really thought they felt and sounded like real gut strings! Best none gut string you can get !
"I try a few string set before giving those a try, I was amazed the minute I took the string out of the package, the quality of it, the texture and mostly the sound they give you. They didn't take that long to stretch and stay in tune perfectly. If you want the sound and feel of gut without all the maintenance and without animal cruelty you can't go wrong with this set. Update: I got a bad A string (.130) out of my set, which can happen, sent an email and got an answer the same day from customer service and they sent me a replacement no charge, amazing customer service !!! "My first band practice with my new Superior Bassworks Deluxe strings went very well. I only had them on for one day and they held tune well. These are the best nylon synthetic gut strings I have ever had on my bass. They come in a six string gauge set, I like the middle set myself. For the price you won't find a better nylon string.
